Charity Super.Mkt, the trailblazing multi-charity thrift fashion store, is set to make its northern England debut in Salford.
Opening at Quayside MediaCity next month, this unique store will feature a meticulously curated collection of «enticing secondhand clothing sourced from various charities.» Shoppers can look forward to weekend entertainment with in-store DJs and a calendar of exciting upcoming events.
The preview sale kicks off on the evening of November 2, followed by the official launch on November 3, running through December 13. This shopping experience not only offers unique finds but also contributes to meaningful causes, including Age UK, All Aboard, Havens Hospices, and St Vincent de Paul.
Charity Super.Mkt’s remarkable journey commenced in January at the former Topshop location in Brent Cross, where it exceeded its fundraising goals for local and national charities within a mere four days.
Following its success, Charity Super.Mkt expanded to Cabot Circus in Bristol, with its residency extended due to overwhelming popularity.
In just six months, Charity Super.Mkt has not only sold over 100,000 secondhand items but also diverted 30,000kg of clothing from landfills and reduced over 260,000kg of CO2 emissions.
This innovative concept is the brainchild of Maria Chenoweth, CEO of sustainable clothing charity TRAID, and Wayne Hemingway, co-founder of Red or Dead and HemingwayDesign. Hemingway acknowledges a shifting fashion landscape, where consumers, especially the younger generation, prioritize conscious shopping and sustainability.
«The North of England has always been a hub of community support and charitable endeavors,» Hemingway noted. «We are immensely proud to make our debut here. Charity Super.Mkt not only revitalizes exceptional garments and styles from fashion magazines but also enables affordable shopping, unique styling, sustainability, and support for meaningful causes.»
